The National Weather Service Issues Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Decatur County until 2:45 p.m.


The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several counties, including northern Decatur County until 2:45 p.m. CDT. The warning was issued due to a severe thunderstorm moving northeast at a speed of 50 mph, with the potential of producing golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.


The storm is expected to reach Van Wert around 2:10 p.m. CDT, Weldon around 2:15 p.m. CDT, Lakeside Casino around 2:20 p.m. CDT, and Osceola around 2:25 p.m. CDT. People and animals that are outside are advised to take shelter indoors in the lowest level of a building. Those who live in the path of the storm are also advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.


Other locations in the path of the severe thunderstorm include Woodburn, Lucas, Lacona, Otter Creek County Park, and Interstate 35 between mile markers 11 and 37.
